Sherrin Partners in the Community

The directors and staff at Sherrin Partners are firm believers that, as a company, we should make a positive contribution to the disadvantaged in our community.  We decided that we would do this in three (3) ways:

  1. Frstly, and undoubtedly the most rewarding, is our work with a local not for profit, community based organisation called Footprints.

Footprints caters for special needs and elderly folk who live by themselves in the local area by giving them access to community leisure activities, a home cooked morning tea and lunch as well as transport to and from the centre.

Our involvement consists of two of our staff spending one day each month at the centre. Whilst we are there we talk to the ‘clients’ and participate in the games and activities that are organised for them by the staff. We also assist the staff serve and clean up after the morning tea and lunch that is cooked on the premises.

Part of the activities and entertainment usually involves giving the clients a small prize if they win one of the games. During the month we purchase items we think may be useful and take a bag of goodies to the centre to form part of the raffle prizes each month.

We have had fantastic feedback from the centre staff telling us that the clients look forward to our visits and involvement in the centre. It is truly a worthwhile experience for all.

  2. By individually donating money on a regular basis to a worthy cause. This monthly donation is linked to a “free dress” day one day per month. For the past 18 months “Mercy Ships” has been the recipient of our donations, and a total of $1,400 has been raised for this cause to date. “Mercy Ships” is an international organisation which provides hospital equipped ships to undertake urgent medical procedures in 3rd world countries.

  3. Our final activity requires the physical involvement of the entire staff in a fundraising activity. For the past 2 years, Sherrin Partners staff members, their partners and/or their children have participated in the MS Moonwalk in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Qld.
